Marveloc is the brand name for our sustainable range of sensors that enable thickness and basis weight (grammage) control. Renowned for its high operational robustness and sustainability, Marveloc supports single and multi-sensor applications, allowing us to offer maximum material coverage.
The U-Ray ultrasound sensors of Hammer-IMS are optimized for quality control of thinner materials and are able to penetrate metal materials or materials with high electrical conductivity such as carbon fibers or carbon sheets. The ultrasound U-Ray sensor was developed by upgrading analogue ultrasound sensing with digital signal processing techniques (DSP) to enable ultrasound wave phase and/or power detection. U-Ray sensors are ideal for solutions such as battery film applications, in which layer coated thickness needs to be measured on a metal substrate.

Hammer-IMS offers laser profilers, which are advanced laser displacement sensors designed to capture height data along a laser line, as opposed to a single point. This innovative technology allows for the assessment of parameters such as height difference, width, and angle using a single sensor.
For thickness measurements for the markets of battery films and steel, the glossy and shiny surface produces a scattering phenomenon, therefore, Hammer-IMS proposes the confocal-based L-Ray technology, which has a better match with these materials. Two confocal sensors are required to come to a true thickness measurement: one above the material, the other one below the material. Measurement spots of the confocal-based L-Ray technology are comparable to the ones realized by our laser-based L-Ray technology.

Hammer-IMS' cutting-edge technologies are integrated to deliver inline measuring and machine-vision systems: Marveloc-CURTAIN systems and Edge-Vision-4.0 systems.
One example of Hammer-IMS' inline solutions is shown in the following video where Hammer-IMS showcases the Marveloc-CURTAIN-Slim measuring system at the 13th European Advanced Automotive Battery Conference. The scanning frame is equipped with a combination of U-Ray and L-Ray sensors that together perform thickness and basis-weight measurements of battery film electrode coating.
Furthermore, our systems are able to detect coating defects, cracks and other anomalies with the addition of our Edge-Vision-4.0 system. To read more about the Edge-Vision-4.0 system, follow this link.
